John Bills Memorial Concert: “From Verdi to Verismo”

The traditional Angels of the Opera dinner, offered by OSM to its major donors on March 3, 2022 at the Ballroom of the Rosewood Hotel in San Miguel de Allende, included a very special event: a concert in memory of John Bills, the former artistic director of OSM.

 

For the first time, the post-dinner concert included the participation of six past winners of Concurso San Miguel, from the years 2009, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2019 and 2020.

 

The sopranos Akemi Endo and Alejandra Sandoval, the mezzo-soprano Lygia Cedillo, the tenor César Delgado, the baritone José Manuel Caro and the bass-baritone Rodrigo Urrutia performed a select program of arias, duets and opera ensembles by composers Armienta, Bizet, Délibes, Donizetti, Leoncavallo, Massenet, Puccini, Rossini and Verdi, under the musical direction and piano accompaniment of Mario Alberto Hernández.
